The task
As a Student Manager with Quinnipiac Baseball, I build pitcher scouting reports that support opponent preparation. The reports examine pitch arsenal tendencies, count-specific sequencing, and handedness splits.
Starting with reliable data
During live games, I capture and validate TrackMan pitch-tracking data, including pitch type, velocity, and movement. Keeping that dataset clean supports the coaching staff and analytics group’s scouting and player-development work.
Turning observations into a report
The reporting task is to organize the pitch information around questions a coaching staff can use when preparing for an opponent. Arsenal, count, sequence, and handedness provide different views of a pitcher’s tendencies.
My contribution
My role includes both maintaining the underlying pitch data and producing the scouting reports. That connection between collection and reporting helps keep the analysis grounded in the information available.
